Unlockable: Alternate Home Title Screen

When you have won every single cup that is available in the game, an alternate home title screen will be unlocked and shown when the game is started.

Unlockable: Larger Bikes
Type: Unlockable

The following tasks, once completed will unlock the large bikes that are listed below.

  • Twinkle Star - Winning the 100cc Star Cup will unlock this bike.
  • Phantom - Unlocks after you win the Mirror Cup
  • Torpedo - There are twelve Expert Staff ghost data in Time Trial mode, unlocking them all will get this bike unlocked.
Unlockable: Cups
Type: Unlockable

The following cups are unlocked when:

  • Leaf Cup - Unlocks after you have earned trophies in Banana and Shell Cups.
  • Star Cup - Unlocks after you have earned trophies in Flower and Mushroom Cups.
  • Lightning Cup - You must earn a trophy in the Leaf Cup.
  • Special Cup - You must earn a trophy in the Star Cup.
Unlockable: Karts in 100cc Cup Races
Type: Unlockable

Once you have earned all the trophies in each of the 100cc cup races. The option to drive karts in the 100cc cup races will be unlocked.

Unlockable: Mirror Class
Type: Unlockable

Winning all 150cc cups will unlock the Mirror Class.

Hint: Starting Boost
Type: Hint

Press and continue to hold the "A" button as the number "2" in the countdown timer is beginning to fade in order to get the maximum boost heading into the race.

Hint: Avoid the Blue Shells
Type: Hint

You can use a mushroom to avoid the blue shells. If you time it to coincide with when the blue shell is about to hit and use any mushroom, you should be able to avoid the ensuing blast.

Hint: Avoid the POW Block
Type: Hint

Here is how you can avoid getting hit by a POW block:

  • Flick your Controller - You can avoid getting slowed down by the POW block by flicking your controller upwards right before you get hit (Count the pre-POW strikes to three and flick!). If you are using a GameCube or Wii Classic controller, pressing the Up arrow button has the same effect.
  • Use Something - You can also preempt the effect by being in the air or using a Bullet Bill, Mega Mushroom or a Star.
  • Hop - Hop - Hop - The POW block will not cause any damage and you will retain the items you are carrying if you keep hopping through the POW Block. You must have selected the Manual Drift Mode to be able to do this.
